Oasi Zegna by candlelight: Valentine's Day events

Romantic supper, night in a mountain hut, massages and saunas. A weekend of spectacular views for lovers

Escape from daily routine, with your partner, to a place that offers beauty and relaxation. For those who think the most precious gift is time to spend together Valentine’s Day is an opportunity to discover places like Oasi Zegna. Where romanticism is served up by nature itself: the moon, snow, stars and mountains, not to mention the fun to be had on the ski slopes or snowshoe hiking through the forest, dinner by the fire and drinks in a panoramic hydro-massage tub. Here are some suggestions for celebrating the lovers’ weekend in the Biella Alps.

ALBERGO BUCANEVE: SAUNA, MASSAGE and VALENTINE’S DAY MENU
Albergo Bucaneve is a wooden chalet designed in the 1960s by Luigi Vietti. Just looking out of the window revives your love of nature, and from the hotel’s terrace, the most panoramic spot in Bielmonte, you can see out across the Po valley plains as far as the pyramidal Monviso. Other fine views can be had from the large wooden hydro-massage tub on the covered terrace of the hotel’s holistic Wellness Center. From aromatic essences to sounds, from hay beds to steaming Turkish baths, beauty treatments for him and her based on mountain herbs and flowers: everything has a cozy and calming effect here. And on Valentine’s Day weekend couples who book a relaxing massage will enjoy a free-of-charge session in the Wellness Center, with its Finnish sauna, aromatic Turkish bath, multi-sensory showers and Kneipp routine. The 30 minute massage combines the work of expert hands and the properties of hay oil from the Asiago uplands, a prized mix of contracture-relieving and anti-stress essences, such as hypericum and lavender. Chef Ernesto Tonetto of the Ristorante Bucaneve has also had a thought for couples celebrating in the restaurant by the big fire. His special menu kicks off with tuna carpaccio, pomegranate and dill. Followed by “beetroot risotto” and then “beef tournedos with a Parmentier, served with orange sauce”. Even more ardent the dessert: a “spicy stuffed crepe, raspberry powder and passionfruit ice cream”.

SLEEPING IN A MOUNTAIN HUT: STARRY SKIES AND WAKING UP AMIDST SKI SLOPES
To enjoy the best panoramas in Oasi Zegna just take the single-seat chair-lift from Bielmonte up to Rifugio Monte Marca: suspended in mid-air on this lift that also takes you back in time, you have an exclusive view of Monte Rosa. The best moment is towards evening, when you can admire this alpine massif framed by sunset. On getting to the top, you can stop off in the refuge for drinks and/or dinner, but the most romantic experience is sleeping up there. Sitting on the terraces, cossetted with blankets, you can admire the stars without any light pollution. And waking up in the most total peace, the enchantment of snow and the panorama outside, the aroma of homemade cakes from the kitchen… is something you won’t forget. After breakfast, step outside and you’re on the ski slopes, still untouched. For non-skiers, Rifugio Monte Marca is excellently placed for hiking in the snow, with or without snowshoes. If you’re on your own and not too confident, there’s a guided snowshoe hike on 16 February organized by Overalp’s mountain experts, who will accompany participants on some of Oasi Zegna’s most beautiful trails.

VALENTINE’S DAY ON A FARMSTAY
Cascina Il Faggio in the country near Mosso, a few minutes by car from Trivero, some way from the ski slopes but with excellent food and a small spa, is a great opportunity for couples. Their Valentine’s Day offer, valid from Friday 14 to Sunday 16 February, includes 2 nights in a double or family room, breakfast, entry to the wellness center for 2 people (90 minutes), two 5-course tasting dinners (Friday 14 and Saturday 15) and a babysitter service for kids aged 3 to 12, to give mum and dad a really romantic evening.
