Every year, when autumn comes, Oasi Zegna’s woodlands become a theatre of unique nature whose color palette arouses unforgettable emotions. The foliage of the beeches, birches and many other plant species explode in a symphony of warm browns, bright reds, radiant yellows, delicate pinks, vibrant oranges and even shades of purple, thus creating an iridescent mosaic to accompany visitors enjoying unique panoramas from the mountain paths.

The most picturesque spots for admiring this phenomenon are the Forest of Smiles (accessible from Bocchetto Sessera), which offers spectacular views in October and early November, and the Brughiera woods, which are a blaze of colors in the first half of November. For a particularly immersive experience requiring three days, we recommend the Cammino di Ermenegildo (3 legs, totaling 51 km), uniquely magical in autumn.

From the easiest of walks to more demanding hikes, every outing becomes a sensory experience combining the beauties of the landscape with interior wellbeing. In this period, the area boasts a rich calendar of activities for enjoying autumn in all its nuances: from excursions led by expert nature guides who reveal botanical curiosities and unexpected views, to watercolor workshops where participants can learn to paint landscapes ablaze with the season’s colors. And this is not all: you can also practice forest bathing, immersing yourself in the woods to regain equilibrium and full contact with nature, and visit Casa Zegna and its various exhibitions. 

DISCOVERING FALL FOLIAGE IN OASI ZEGNA: UNMISSABLE EXPERIENCES

 GUIDED TOURS OF THE FOREST OF SMILES: every Saturday and Sunday from 4 October to 2 November 2025
OverAlp guides will accompany you as you discover the Forest of Smiles (Bosco del Sorriso) at Bocchetto Sessera, a magical place in which to regain harmony and wellbeing immersed in nature. This enchanting walk also offers unique and unforgettable views of wild Val Sessera along the way. Not just a hike but a sensory experience amidst conifers, beech and birch trees and all the energy and vitality they transmit as they surround you with colors, fragrances and sounds.Route: around 5 km (100 meters elevation gain) on a wide, unsurfaced path with no particular difficulties. Suitable for everyone.
Time: around 2½ hours there and back.

NATURE AND CULTURE ON AN AUTUMN DAY. EXCURSIONS TO BRUGHIERA AND VISITS TO CASA ZEGNA: every Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 9 November 2025The day starts with meeting up and breakfast at Agriturismo Il Faggio, followed by a guided tour of Brughiera, a picturesque spot near Trivero Valdilana, where nature and silence favor harmony and wellbeing.
On this walk, it’s possible to observe the transformation of the landscape: at this altitude the sweet chestnuts, false acacias and other deciduous species getting ready for their winter repose offer a fascinating and ever changing spectacle. The afternoon is dedicated to culture, with a visit to the Santuario della Brughiera, one of the oldest places of worship in the area. Next, a short car ride to Casa Zegna, which houses Fondazione Zegna’s historical archives, cultural center and museum, an interweaving of history, art and tradition.
Walk: around 2½ hours. Suitable for everyone.
Dogs are welcome but only on a lead.
Visits to the Sanctuary and Casa Zegna: these take up the entire afternoon.
