As the days draw out and rising temperatures beckon us outdoors to enjoy the colors of spring, people start thinking of a trip to recharge themselves, and what better way to enjoy the rebirth of nature than an enthralling on-the-road to relish the journey itself and not just the destination? Oasi Zegna has always been a paradise for campervanners, because it’s the ideal place if you want minimum organization and maximum nature and love the feeling of freedom you get by sleeping near the edge of the woods.

And now, ahead of the summer holidays, it’s been rated by Yescapa, a leading European camper sharing platform, in its 10 most interesting destinations in Piemonte, which is 2022’s European Sport Region, and therefore ideal for active, outdoor holidays. For each destination, Yescapa suggests a well contrived and interesting itinerary that’s ideal.

Oasi Zegna is in the top ten destinations of interest for campervan holidays in 2022 thanks to its 100 km2 of nature in the Biella Alps and its 26 km Panoramica road (and service area). Yescapa has devised an itinerary for maximum appreciation of Oasi Zegna’s beauty (each stage is described in detail in this article).

We suggest starting from Casa Zegna, Oasi Zegna’s cultural center, a great source of info on the itinerary, and then heading for the Conca dei Rododendri, a garden designed in the ‘50s by landscape architect Pietro Porcinai, and the Santuario di San Bernardo, which can be reached on foot or mountain bike: from here, at 1,400m asl, there’s a 360° view taking in the Ligurian Apennines and the plains of the Po valley.

Farther on, after admiring the awesome Monte Rosa group from Bocchetta di Margosio, you come to Bielmonte, the ski resort founded in 1957 by Ermenegildo Zegna. From here you can take the chairlift to Rifugio Monte Marca (excellent food!) and come back down on the Rolba Run, in a bob on rollers.

The next must-do is exploring the panoramic paths of the wild Upper Valsessera, a valley inhabited by deer and roe deer. From Locanda Bocchetto Sessera, you can follow the Bosco del Sorriso, a path designed by bio-researcher Marco Nieri, with info-boards explaining the effects trees have on our energy and psychophysical system.

From Bocchetto Sessera it’s also possible to visit Alpe Artignaga, with its characteristic stone huts (“tegge”), and the Rifugio Piana del Ponte (open from June to October). After all this, the Panoramica road takes you down into the enchantingly wild and panoramic Valle Cervo.
